In Feb 2007 we sent a team of specialists on a follow up visit to the Hôpital Général de Référence. The aim of the visit was simple. We needed to gauge how effective the drugs and equipment we had sent, over the past 12 months, had been. We had also been asked to provided teaching to the hospitals midwifery staff in certain Western techniques.

Angela Gorman from HFGK was so moved by the whole experience of her contact with Dr Grace Kodindo and her visits to Chad that she has written a moving, yet at times humorous account of the journey from the moment that she saw the episode of PANORAMA in June 2005 to the autumn of 2006.

The book recalls the build up to the first visit November 2005, which includes meetings with the Chadian Health Minister, the United Nations and sadly an unsuccessful attempt at resuscitating an infant in full view of the BBC cameras!
