Testimony by a patient who survived Eclampsia after being treated with Magnesium Sulphate

— QUESTION... What happened to you?

My name is KHADIDJA HISSEIN; I live in Diguel-Nord, N'Djamena.
I cannot explain how I became sick. A month ago, I was told not to eat foods with salt because I have started to have edema. (Swelling) Suddenly, this morning, I had headache and then I lost consciousness and I was taken to hospital.
Thank you for saving me.

QUESTION... Did you have antenatal care?

Only once.

QUESTION... Did you hear about Magnesium Sulphate before?

I have never heard about it in my life. But my relatives told me that it was with this drug that you saved me and my baby's life and for free, without paying money for it.
Again thank you and continue into this.

TESTIMONY BY A RELATIVE OF A PATIENT WHO SURVIVED ECLAMPSIA AFTER TREATMENT BY MAGNESIUM SULPHATE DONATED BY HFGK.

QUESTION..What is your perception of eclampsia in your area?

My name is TAPROM CECILE. I live in Wallia Barriere/N'djamena.
In our culture, eclampsia is considered like a disease produced by witches. Even in 2004, one of my cousins died from this disease after spending 2 days in a house of a traditional healer in near by bush.

QUESTION.. What do you think of Magnesium Sulphate?

I did not believe that my sister was going to survive and above all without paying for the drug. I do not know how to thank you. I ask God to reimburse you for that.

QUESTION.. What message do you want to tell pregnant women?

I ask all women with convulsions during pregnancy to go to hospital instead of wasting their money unnecessarily on traditional healers and other Marabous.

TESTIMONIES BY MIDWIFE AND MEDICAL STUDENTS.

"Magnesium Sulphate has produced wonderful results, I have seen patients recovering without sequels and the convulsions easily stopped."

"We do not want Diazepam any more."

"Magnesium Sulphate should be made available all over Chad, not only in our hospital."

"Tha problem now is how to make Magnesium Sulphate available and to train more staff in the use of Magnesium Sulphate."
