Angela Gorman - HFGK Chairperson

Angela has been a qualified Nurse for 30yrs. Since 1986, she has worked on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where until January 2008, she was a Senior Sister. Angela is currently seconded to HFGK for 3yrs, a role facilitated by the Welsh
Assembly Government and Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust, the former organisation becoming aware in 2007 of the potential for saving lives if Angela was able to undertake her role in a full time capacity. She is also a trade unionist and Chair of Cardiff & Vale Health Branch of UNISON, taking a significant role in negotiations and consultations with her employer at the most senior level, including the Trust Board. Angela is married to Mike, a civil servant and they have three children and 3 grandchildren.
.
Carolyn Maybray-Seymour - Trustee

Carolyn became involved with HFGK after watching the Panorama programme. To begin with she took a back seat only becoming involved with Angela Gorman when required. She is the Great Niece of Lord Maybray-King and raising funds for charity is a family genetic!

Carolyn recently took over running of the website, Facebook, Twitter and Blog accounts to help HFGK achieve a global on line presence. If you join any of online acounts you will see her there. Last year she hand produced a traditional mohair bear, called Ambrose, who is spending his time visiting different countries to bring about further global awareness and will hopefully be auctioned in the future to raise funds. (If Angela can part with him!)

Colin Williams - Trustee

Colin spent 22 years with ActionAid International, a charity dedicated to reducing poverty around the world. He was responsible for setting up country programmes in Somalia, Uganda and Malawi then running the Africa region and finally developing a new decentralised international structure.
He was part of the exciting, and eventually successful, response to HIV & AIDS in Uganda and helped set up the now famous and influential NGO, TASO, in that country. Since 2003 he has been involved widely in various trustee, management and coaching roles in Africa and the UK. Colin brings all of that experience to the Egmont Trust: an organizational and management approach that promotes minimal bureaucracies, space, trust and focus, and a belief founded in practice that the impact of HIV & AIDS can actually be reduced substantially, even eliminated. He went to school in South Wales, holds an MA from Canada, and was awarded an OBE in 2002.

Matt Price - Trustee

is a Broadcast Sound Engineer based in London
He was one of the first people to respond to the Panorama programme 'Dead Mum's Don't Cry' by contacting the program and then Dr Grace Kodindo to find out what could be done to help, initially, the mum's of Chad. He is married with three sons and in 2009 he cycled from London to Paris to raise funds for HFGK.

Sharon Chapman Trustee
Angela and I had worked together as Unison Representatives in Cardiff and Vale Health Trust for many years. Her enthusiasm to get involved was so infectious after watching Grace Kodindo on the Parnorama programme that I very quickly caught "the bug!"
I approached our Unison Branch committee to asked if they would consider sponsoring Angela on her visit to meet Grace in Chad, with a view to adopting the Hospital and giving ongoing support, and was thrilled with the positive response, and more thrilled when I became Treasurer this little Charity. Always a supporter I had the honour of being asked to become Treasurer and Trustee in the group that was set up by the women who visited Grace who became known as "HFGK" None of us had any idea when this started how many hospitals we would support or how many lives would be saved! I am pleased to say that Angela's passionate enthusiasm continues and I have never managed to get rid of my "bug"

Mike Gorman
Trustee

Michael Gorman is a recently retired Civil Servant having worked in the Inland Revenue for over 40yrs.
As the husband of the Charity's Chair, he has seen HFGK grow since 2005 from the anticipated small organisation supporting just one Chadian hospital, to experiencing the growing pains as HFGK developed into to the present effective organisation which is now expanding its support to more countries and able to stand side by side with the larger agencies.

Dr Grace Kodindo
Patron

Dr Grace Kodindo is our Inspiration. Chadian by birth she spent 30 years in her home country working as an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist following 7years of medical training in Canada. Grace's committment to the care of Chadian women shone through the BBC PANORAMA programme "Dead Mums Don't Cry" which brought such an overwhelming response from so many UK viewers and ontinues to be shown throughout the world.
Grace is currently working in New York with RAISE, an organisation which aims to raise the standard of care to women in emergency settings, but hopes to return to Chad to work and to rejoin her family.

Kate Preston
Trustee
Kate has many years of journalistic experience and produces our hardcopy flyers and literature.
